Bluestem Rocks!

Bluestem not only rocks, it’s a little bit country, a little bit nostalgia and lots of fun. The Bluestem Center for the Arts in Moorhead is a spectacular addition to our community. The Center opened in 2009 through generous support from our community and public funds (The State of Minnesota granted 5.5 million). We partner with Fargo Schools through which Trollwood Performing Arts School manages the facility. The 2,500 seat amphitheater is home to a number of venues including Trollwood’s plays and groups on Tour. This year’s main stage play is Mary Poppins! They are also home to a number of community events including Roots on the Red, and this 4th of July, Bluestem will host MSUM’s Fireworks show. MSUM received a generous donation from Scheels’s for 5 million to make their football field spectacular, but that will put it out of commission for their Community Fireworks event this year. Bluestem will be able to host all of the usual events that we are used to in an area that is rich in scenery and has plenty of grass for us to gather and watch together.

This morning, Jade Presents announced a number of their shows for their Summer Concert Series. There is something for everyone. For country lovers will enjoy Gary Allen, with special guest Jana Kramer (June 14), and Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson (Sept. 6); some for us old Rock fans will enjoy Hairball (Sept. 11) and Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, with Night Ranger(Aug. 12); for oldie lovers, “The Happy Together Tour” with The Grass Roots, The Turtles, The Cowsills, el al, (Aug. 30) will get us dancing; eclectic fans will enjoy Primus (Aug 8), blue grass fans, John Prine (Sept 16) and for more contemporary lovers, American Authors & Andy Grammer (Aug 14). Jade Presents has more in the works, but today’s announcement promises a spectacular year for concert goers in our community. #awesomesummer
