KMO Memorial Ride:

Location: Casa Mexico at 112 14th St. NE in East Grand Forks

Cost: $10 – $20

The second annual KMO Memorial Ride will be held in honor of fallen East Grand Forks Police Officer Kenneth Olson. The cost is $20 per bike, $10 per passenger, $10 for the general public and free for kids 12 and younger. After the ride, a meal will be served starting at 5 p.m., as well as a beer garden, door prizes, raffle and auction. Proceeds from the event will go to the K.M. Olson Scholarship and Project Lifesaver for future law enforcement, fire fighters, and emergency service personnel.

Pancake Feed:

Location: VFW in Barnesville

Cost: $6

All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and eggs; $6, proceeds benefit veteran programs.

The Bloch Party:

Location: Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County in Moorhead

Date: August 3

Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm

Cost: Free

A celebration of the Bloch’s journey though North Dakota for its North American tour, party will feature music by Poitin, Heather and Thistle, Ma’di (African Dance Group) and Margreat and Ishika. Interactive art projects include Rangoli sand art, woodcarving, printmaking, Swedish Dala painting, and ceramics. Moorhead Library will also host story time on the Bloch with readings of “The Giving Tree” and “Johnny Appleseed.”

32nd Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social & Cake Walk:

Bring your family and friends to First Congregational United Church of Christ in Moorhead for our Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social! You will be treated to a slice of homemade pie, a scoop of ice cream, lemonade or coffee, and time spent with friendly faces. This year we are adding an additional event for the children–a CAKE WALK! Meet Sandra Menefee Taylor Sandra Menefee Taylor is a Minnesota artist who pushes the boundaries of the role of the artist and art making: building bridges between the audience and the artwork, what writer Suzi Gablik calls “connective esthetics.” Menefee Taylor will discuss the process of creating art with older adults who have memory loss at the Wilder Adult Day Program in St. Paul, Minn., with the goal of giving people who might feel themselves failing, or losing, the opportunity to also learn new things – “a new way to communicate.”

Proceeds benefit F-M Sheltering Churches who shelter homeless individuals at parishes November through April.

Neighborhood Block Party & Movie Night:

Location: Horace Mann School in Fargo

Cost: Free

Come join the Horace Mann Area Neighborhood Association for our annual Night to Unite block party! A grill will be provided for any food you may want to cook, and beverages will be provided. Enjoy the picnic and stick around after for lawn games & the Lego Movie outdoors at 9 pm!

Concert in the Park:

Location: Elephant/ Percy Goodwin Park in N. Fargo

Date: August 6

Time: 7:00pm

Cost: Free

Local bands will entertain families with lively music. Get your face painted, jump in the bouncy castle and take home a craft project. This is a free event and there will be limited concessions for sale. Penny and Pals Performing!
