Musical ‘champs’ take center stage

In this season of pucks and buckets, another breed of teen-age champions was in the spotlight in Moorhead Tuesday. The tenth annual Recital With a Cause presents the area’s top high school musicians with their own unforgettable MVP moment. Established by the Moorhead Rotary Club, the annual concert is now sponsored by all five Fargo-Moorhead Rotary groups, spotlighting teen musicians from the community and area. They include winners of the principal contests for stellar soloists – the Fargo Moorhead Youth Symphonies’ Concerto Competition and the Young Artists Solo Competition co-sponsored by the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Public Radio. Contributions from attendees and businesses have generated more than $50,000 over the past decade. The clubs, in turn, use the proceeds to support Rotary International’s Polio Plus, its campaign to rid the world of polio, as well as the two local symphony organizations’ youth music programs.
