WEST FARGO FIRE DEPARTMENTS LAUNCH 13TH CLASS OF METRO FIRE ACADEMY

The collaborative academy will host 10 recruits for 18 weeks of intensive firefighter training

FARGO – The Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo Fire Departments will welcome the 13th class of recruits to the Metro Fire Academy on Monday, August 4. A total of 10 recruits will embark on 18 weeks of training, taking part in ride-alongs, workouts, classroom instruction and live fire scenarios. They will receive hands-on experience in a controlled environment, learning techniques to prepare them for real-life, emergency situations.

Established in the spring of 2020, the Metro Fire Academy has continued to build on its success as a shared training program that serves three fire departments. The academy has graduated 96 firefighters and has improved interagency coordination across the community.

“We are proud to welcome our 13th class to the Metro Fire Academy. This joint effort has grown to include three outstanding departments and clearly demonstrates how we all benefit from collaboration here in the metro area,” said Fargo Fire Chief Gary Lorenz. “As an incoming chief, I’m excited to witness the academy prepare recruits for the demanding mental and physical challenges of firefighting. They will each undergo the same intensive training, which means residents in all three cities will receive best-in-class fire service.”

Anyone interested in a firefighting career is encouraged to visit FargoFire.com, MoorheadFire.com and WestFargoFire.org to learn more about each department and explore career opportunities.
