Greater Moorhead Days Virtual Parade

MOORHEAD – Many of our community traditions have been affected by pandemic restrictions, but we know the Moorhead Spirit continues to shine through it all. Will you help us showcase this community pride? We invite you, your family, business, or organization to participate in the Greater Moorhead Days “Virtual Parade.”

Please submit a photo or a video clip not to exceed 10 seconds showcasing your Moorhead Spirit following our theme: Celebrate Moorhead.” Some fun ideas: welcome kids back to school; shout-out your favorite local business; favorite place to visit; or Moorhead-based activity; why you are Moorhead Proud…Get creative and in the spirit!

Photos and clips will be compiled into one video that will be released on Thursday, September 17—our virtual parade. Please keep your submission family-friendly and in compliance with the Greater Moorhead Days Virtual Parade Content Policy.

Send your submissions to parkandrec@cityofmoorhead.com. When submitting please save the video/photo file with your last name, business name, organization name, or household name, whichever applies.

Shredding Fundraiser Planned at Moorhead Public Library

MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Public Library has teamed up with ShredRight to provide a safe and secure way to shred personal and business documents. The fundraiser will be held September 14-19. During that time, community members are invited to bring their documents to the Moorhead Public Library during operating hours.  Library staff will securely dispose of documents for $5 per grocery bag. 

Funds raised during this event will support the library’s mobile library, The Book Truck. For more information, call the Moorhead Public Library at 218-233-7594.

The Moorhead Public Library reopened with adjusted hours on July 1 after its building was closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic. The library is offering Express Service (encouraging short visits while maintaining social distance, sanitation procedures and more based on the following schedule:

Monday  9-7

Tuesday  9-7

Wednesday  9-7

Thursday  9-7

Friday  10-6

Saturday  10-6

The Moorhead Public Library has also recently added a second book drop, giving customers the convenience of returning their materials in the parking lot of the Azool Hornbachers.

More Fall and Winter Programs Open for Registration

MOORHEAD – Registration is now open for the Mini-Basketball, Youth Coed Basketball, and Sports Sampler programs. Changes have been updated to each program, including location and maximum number of registrants.

Due to COVID-19 limiting facility use, the Youth Gymnastics program has been cancelled for the fall and winter.

Youth Volleyball registration is open and will take place at the Community Life Center inside Good Shepherd Church.

Tae Kwon Do will still proceed for September outdoors at South Park. October-February sessions will take place at the Hjemkomst Center.

All social distancing and sanitizing guidelines will be followed in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Preparedness Plan.
