FARM IN THE DELL HOLDING U-PICK DAYS THIS WEEK

MOORHEAD – Join Farm in the Dell this Thursday and Friday 9am – 12pm for U-Pick Flower & Herb Days.

A family friendly experience choosing your own produce. Available will be herbs such as basil, dill, cilantro, and flowers like zinnias, snapdragons, and dahlias.

Most of us are accustomed to produce from the grocery store, that’s shipped in from far away places and often picked before it’s fully ripe to ensure smooth travels. Locally grown produce is a totally difference experience, where you get to select each one yourself at the peak of perfection.

Come out to the farm at 7426 40th Street N, Moorhead to enjoy the summer sunshine, and take part in the bounty of the harvest! For more information, visit us online at farminthedellrrv.org

Admission is FREE; $1/single flower, $25 flower bouquet, $1/3 dill stems, $5 herb bag.

PROPERTY ASSESSMENT REVIEWS TO OCCUR IN SELECTED NEIGHBORHOODS

MOORHEAD – The City of Moorhead Assessing Division will be conducting residential property reviews in selected neighborhoods in the coming weeks. Clearly identified City assessors may be walking around, viewing and taking photos of your properties exterior.

Property reviews help the City Assessor determine current and accurate property values as required by the State of Minnesota.  An interior inspection ensures the most accurate valuation.

To schedule an interior inspection, or if you would like to confirm any data regarding the interior of your home in lieu of a physical interior inspection, please call the Assessor’s Office at 218.299.5310. Please also call with any other questions about the assessment process.

Reviews will occur in Allyson Parkway 4th Addition and Allyson Parkway 5th Addition subdivisions.

8 ST/CENTER AVE INTERSECTION TO BE CLOSED STARTING AUGUST 21

MOORHEAD – 8 St between Main Ave and 1 Ave N has closed for sanitary sewer work. This work is expected to last approximately 4 weeks, weather permitting.

Because the intersection of 8 St and Center Ave will be closed, several detours will be necessary:

Westbound Center Ave traffic will be detoured to Main Ave via 11 St N

Eastbound Center Ave traffic will be detoured to 1 Ave N via 7 St N

Northbound 8 St traffic will be detoured via Main Ave

Access to Napa Auto Parts will be from 1 Ave N; Billiards must be accessed from the west

Motorists should expect delays in the area and find alternate routes, if possible.

EFFECTIVE SEPT 1, PLASTIC BAGS CAN NOT BE USED FOR YARD WASTE

MOORHEAD – Moorhead residents must use compostable/paper bags or reusable cans for curbside yard waste collection; yard waste in plastic bags will no longer be collected as of Sept 1.

The primary reasons for the change include alleviating the litter and costs of disposing clear plastic bags, minimizing maintenance and down time of the yard waste processing equipment, and eliminating contamination of the finished compost. The ultimate goal is to make the City’s composting service more efficient and sustainable.

Acceptable options for yard waste after September 1 include:

Reusable cans (up to 32 gallons in size). Yard waste stickers are not required but can be picked up at the Resource Recovery Center (3322 15 Ave N), 3rd floor of City Hall, Public Works Offices (1300 15 Ave N), or the Public Works Shop (700 15 Ave N).

Compostable lawn bags that are BPI-Certified and ASTM D6400 standard compliant (with the BPI stamp on the bag)

Dropping off yard waste at the City compost site, or dumpsters at Woodlawn Point (418 Elm St), the Public Works Shop (700 15 Ave N), the Resource Recovery Center (3322 15 Ave N), or Southside Regional Park (corner of Parkview Drive and 23 St S).

BPI-Certified compostable or paper lawn bags can be purchased at Moorhead’s Ace Hardware, Menards, or online at various retailers. Reusable cans (about $25) can also be purchased at Moorhead’s Ace Hardware, Menards, Runnings and Target.

Each container or bag must not exceed 30 pounds, but there is no limit on the total number that may be picked up. If you have questions, please contact Public Works at 218.299.5347 or 218.299.5465.
