MOORHEAD LIBRARY TO OBSERVE HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY
MOORHEAD – Join the Moorhead Public Library for “The Holocaust After The Diary of Anne Frank: Narratives from the Transit Camps to the Crematoria,” a presentation by Adam Goldwyn, Ph.D. featuring letters written during the Holocaust. The program is offered free-of-charge and will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 6 p.m. at the Moorhead Public Library, 118 5th St. S.
The diary of Anne Frank was written when she was hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam. However her diary does not show the six months between her capture in November of 1944 and her death six months later in Bergen-Belsen. This presentation will examine other sources written during the Holocaust by Jewish men and women who, like Anne, did not survive, but show what it was like to live in the transit camps, cattle cars and concentration camps. The Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on January 27th that commemorates the victims of the Holocaust, which resulted in the genocide of one third of the Jewish people, along with countless members of other minorities by Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. January 27th was chosen to commemorate the date when the Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by the Red Army in 1945.

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN FARGOPACK FINALE
FARGO – After 10 days of packing meals we are excited to say, we packed 9,712,224 meals, feeding 26,608 kids every day for a year. This is the largest pack in the history of Feed My Starving Children.
As we closed our final packing shift, Dave Gunnlaugsson, the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack regional development advisor for FargoPack reminded everyone who volunteered, “we set out on a goal to feed 27,000 people hungry in body and spirit and that’s what was done, while the 10 million meal goal wasn’t fully reached, the Red River Valley had over 27,000 people come out over these 10 days to help feed kids, families and communities around the world.”
Fargo is not only home to Feed My Starving Children’s largest MobilePack record, but we also hold the record for the most number of meals packed in a single two hour shift (985,176 meals packed), and most boxes packed at a station (85 boxes packed by a team of 15 people.)
We would not have been able to make this happen without the tireless commitment to turning hunger into hope by our community, local schools and universities and businesses and churches across the state.
