Arrest Made Regarding South Moorhead Shooting

Fentress Cromwell

MOORHEAD – Fentress Gene Cromwell, age 52, of Moorhead, MN, was arrested Sunday for the drive-by shooting that occurred in the 3000 block of 18 Street South, Moorhead, on June 23, 2020.

The investigation was assisted by information provided by the public and assistance from neighboring businesses that supplied surveillance footage.

Cromwell was charged with the following:

Felony Drive-By Shooting Toward a Vehicle

Felony Reckless Discharge of a Firearm in a Municipality

Felony Ineligible Person in Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition

Criminal Damage to Property

An additional Felony 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance charge was added at the time of his arrest.

M State offers new Pre-Professional Health degree

MOORHEAD – Students on the path to undergraduate and graduate degrees for health care careers now have an affordable, close-to-home and personalized option at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

A unique new M State degree in Pre-Professional Health offers the specific science and math preparation required by students planning to earn degrees in professions including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and veterinary science.

The 60-credit Associate of Science degree is offered on M State’s campuses in Fergus Falls and Moorhead, but many of the courses also can also completed online.

Dr. Matt Borcherding, dean of M State’s School of Science and Mathematics, said the new degree gives students the opportunity to complete foundational courses in math and science in settings where they will get individualized instruction, rather than in the lecture halls often found at larger universities.

FM Area Foundation’s Executive Director Announces Retirement

FARGO – After 10 years of serving as Executive Director of the FM Area Foundation, Tim Beaton, has announced his retirement to be effective February 2021.

“For the past 10 years, I have enjoyed the challenges and successes achieved by the FM Area Foundation. As the Executive Director, it has been my great honor to work with a very hard-working staff, a dedicated board, many extraordinarily generous donors and a host of visionary community leaders,” said Beaton.

The FM Area Foundation is a community foundation that assists people with charitable giving and provides grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students, as well as leadership on important community initiatives in Cass County, N.D., and Clay County, Minn. The FM Area Foundation is known for its community endowments that generate grant dollars for charitable causes year after year.
