Book Truck to visit Dilworth Tuesdays

The Book Truck’s schedule has just begun to be developed, according to Kahly. It will be on hand at the Dilworth park from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday through month’s end. Photo/Nancy Hanson.

A crowd of kids gathered at Whistle Stop Park in Dilworth Tuesday for the first public appearance of the Moorhead Public Library’s Book Truck, a traveling source of good reading and children’s activities created to serve neighborhoods in Moorhead and Dilworth.

The former city bus, donated by the city of Moorhead to Lake Agassiz Regional Library, has been outfitted with bookshelves and seating to bring the library’s treasures to readers around the community. On this first visit, the books came outside to the patrons for safe social distancing. Program coordinator Jenna Kahly and staff handed out children’s painting kits and back-to-school face masks, along with a selection of children’s books from which young visitors could pick a favorite page-turner.
