FM Flutter Fest takes flight

Interested in butterflies, moths, bees and other pollinators? The Clay County Master Gardeners invite you to learn to appreciate and nurture the vital insects who help gardens grow at the community’s first Flutter Fest, a day of activities that highlight ways to help them thrive.
Flutter Fest is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17. Activities take place in and around the small shelter at Gooseberry Park.
The event starts at 4 p.m. with Sydney Stock’s pollinator story time for children and opportunities create a bee home and plant cone-flower seeds to take home for your yard. Face painting by PiKadilly, live music by Bill Thomas, and educational resources on pollinator-friendly gardening follow.
Master naturalist Alec Miller, the natural resource manager for the Fargo Park District, conducts “tree walk and talks” at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Participants are invited to join the Clay County Master Gardeners in planting the park’s first pollinator garden at 6 p.m. and to help clean up invasive buckthorn at 7.
Fest-goers are encouraged to wear wings, antennas and other butterfly garb to honor the tiny winged creatures that pollinate flowers and food crops. There’s no charge for Flutter Fest. Jumbo’s Food Truck will be on hand throughout the event.
