From A to B and back to A

Veteran’s Corner

Recently Fix It Forward celebrated their ten year anniversary. It’s an incredible milestone for any business. They celebrated with a ribbon cutting. The FMWF Chamber of Commerce ambassadors were there, WF Mayor Dardis and Moorhead Council member Chuck Hendrickson were present.
Not only does Fix It Forward repair cars they give cars away. To this date an astonishing 585 cars. Many of the cars they give away go to single mothers in bad situations; also many cars go to veterans. They are one of the most interesting and impactful charities I’ve ever seen. We go through stages in life that change us. Our first steps, bicycles and driving.
One of our CVMA members was in a motorcycle accident. Her husband was in Poland with the military. She lost her ability to walk tragically. Getting around without a proper vehicle was challenging to say the least. I ran into Matt from Fix it Forward. I inquired about a wheelchair accessible vehicle. He told me to call Tommy Lee, their coordinator (not drummer) which I did. I called the Johnsons and the next day they picked out one of two handicap accessible vehicles. A week later they had a reliable special vehicle they needed and their lives were changed.
Nothing screams independence and freedom more than going from A to B and back to A. Congratulations Fix it Forward on being a great part of the community.
The FMWF Chamber of Commerce and the Redhawks are holding their Military Appreciation Night on June 4th. This special evening is dedicated to recognizing the service, sacrifice, and commitment of our military members and their families – with a night full of community, celebration, and gratitude.
Tickets can be requested by going to the Chamber website under events. This is a great time and we Veterans are thankful.
