Well I’m confident summer is here. We just finished the Hawley Rodeo and parade. The first of many this summer. To be able to carry the symbol of our great Republic at the lead of so many small-town parades means the world to us. As long as we are able we will continue to do so. If you attend a parade, as a reminder please stand as the flag passes. We are often given friendly reminders of the etiquette involved, the candy will be coming but after the flag.
This weekend we will celebrate Flag Day and also the Army’s 250th birthday. We will be hosting a small party at the Fargo VFW. As Veterans, part of our comradery is to make fun of each other’s branch, that tradition persists through several generations across all services. Go Army!
The Fargo National Cemetery project is coming along nicely. We had a great conversation with Senator Hoeven and many others. Such a wonderful community collaborative effort between a private entity plus local, state and federal government. Never in my years would I think I would be part of something so huge and beneficial to the community. And certainly while there have been ups and downs, interactions with toxic people, backroom meetings etc… The bell that rings clears is the truth and the need to do better for our veterans and their families is a battle worth fighting. The one thing that always seems to surprise the nay sayers and there are several (some elected) is my willingness to never quit on this project. You see, I personally see what happens each and every day. Rain, shine, sleet or snow, even blizzards. The conditions which our veterans grieving families are subjected to is difficult to watch. But good things are coming. Stay tuned
