Construction is expected to begin this month on a quick lube and oil change facility after receiving a property tax exemption from the Moorhead City Council Monday.
SpeeDee Oil Change focuses on fluid changes and preventative auto care, according to Almir Jupic, who requested the exemption. Its 86-by-32-foot facility will be built at 1023 30th Ave. S. Completion is expected by December.
The council approved the exemption, which applies only to the new building; the land, valued at $134,100, remains taxable. According to the application, the assessed value of the completed structure will be $550,000. Six full-time and one part-time workers will be employed.
The maximum value of the exemption over its three-year term is expected to be approximately $26,400 at the current tax rate.
