Veteran’s Corner

All Mothers know the feeling of being a mom, but only 1% knows how it feels to be a Military Mom- Author Unknown.
My Mother’s side of the family had four girls. All of them had sons that served. Most of us had in over twenty years of service. That’s a lot of hellos, goodbyes and prayers. You raise your right hand knowing you may be pledging your life. As a Mother you don’t raise children with the thought they might be sacrificed defending this land of ours.
I joined when I was seventeen and needed my parents’ permission. My Father a Captain at the time administered the oath. I recall the sense of pride and relief Mom had after I swore in. Seems it vanished when she discovered I’d be home in less than five months instead of six years. (Low hanging mom humor).
Two of my three Aunts are now deceased. With the exception of my mom, they all have grandkids that serve. The generational service torch has been passed to my cousins kids. Their wives pick up the sad goodbyes, missed holidays and worry our mothers bore. I’ve been to my share of military funerals and veteran suicide funerals. Mothers bear the heaviest burden and are always the hardest ones to face. As service members we are lucky to have someone worry about us daily. To all the moms out there; Happy Mother’s Day.
If you really love your mom you should get her a nice gift. Fact is if you love anyone that LOVES coffee, I have the idea for you. As a bonus two Veterans run the operation.
It’s Minnesota Mudwater Coffee Company. www.minnesotamudwater.com or 218 517-0010.
One of these guys deployed to Africa which is rich with coffee traditions. There he witnessed coffee being roasted by hand in a large iron skillet. It was the best coffee he ever had. (I agree) Returning to Minnesota he brought back single source bean, hand coffee roasting. They set up shop in Foxhome and they roast. No better gift for mom or any loved one, than the one you can enjoy with them.
Excellent product guys.
I hope all you mothers out there are treated special all year round and not just Mother’s Day. Love you mom.
