Who wants it?

A job with the Border Patrol? No way Jose’… I spent enough years in police work to experience some job satisfaction, respect, met interesting people and managed to see some positive results along the way. That’s something that most Border Patrol Agents don’t experience on a regular basis. These people are REAL law enforcement officers… and they happen to be our number one line of defense against drugs and terrorists coming into our country. The Border Patrol officers risk their lives daily in some lonely, deserted, hot desert and it’s every shift they work and even when off duty they are targets.

When some dork makes a remark like “The Border Patrol is a sloppy, unorganized, and totally rogue force of federal goons who routinely perform vehicle stops and illegal searches without having the required level of probable cause” I get ugly!

Every Border Patrol Agent trainee must complete 19-weeks of intense training at their academy, covering instruction in integrated law, physical training, firearms instruction, driving and Spanish. Border Patrol trainees must maintain a passing score in all courses of instruction in order to be retained and the standards are high…Sounds simple, but the training never stops. The job is physically/mentally challenging, frustrating and demanding.

People are complaining about not having immigration reform, most of those people are wanting an open border and that’s just about what we have. The Border Patrol has become a baby-sitting service to chase and chauffer people who violate the Federal law back across the border.

We will probably spend somewhere around 10 or 12 BILLION DOLLARS for border security this year. That’s the cost of room and board for a quarter million college students. Then they talk about adding 21,000 Border Patrol, then cutting several thousand agents, meanwhile… the Border Patrol continues doing what they can, as best as they can.

Meanwhile, we could spend another $110 Million to put the National Guard on the border for another year, huh? (No bullets or authority of course).

While the number of arrests of illegal border crossers has fallen to the lowest level in nearly 40 years, according to an Associated Press analysis of agency records…WHY DON’T we just put Sheriff Joe in charge of the Border Patrol and let them do what they are hired to do. Otherwise, we can just open all the borders and become a 3rd world country overnight.

I’m thankful we have a Border Patrol, sure wish they could do what they are trained to do… enforce the Federal Law!
