2014 Coming to a Close

One of my Facebook friends made a group posting that I thought was rather interesting, and could be a lot of fun if you think about it. He calls the group “2015: Let’s Do This!” The author of the page is Joey “Razor” Kramer who is a graduate of Shanley High School, MSUM and now lives in Los Angeles. He’s an aspiring actor who performed in many different projects in the Region before spreading his wings and headed to Hollywood to give it a shot.

He told me on KFGO that it’s not really a “bucket list”, because to some, a “bucket list” indicates that your passing might be near. The interpretation we got was to plan something special and go out and do it.

For example here are a few things that Joey brought up and I added a few:

Visit Europe

Go deep sea fishing

Attend a Major League Baseball Game (I added other than Target Field)

Climb a mountain

Get married

Go skydiving

See a whale in the wild

There are a couple of things I’ve been lucky enough to have happen to me in 2014, but won’t be revealed to the public until the New Year. One is that I will be in a music video. Please trust me, not as a singer but on the dance floor as the local band “Someday Heroes” produced a video for their song “Hey Amy”. I signed my waiver and did my stuff for SIX takes. It was great aerobic exercise. I think I know the lyrics by heart now. That video will be out in the next few weeks and I’ll keep you posted. It was because of this video and a previous column I wrote that’ll probably add “learn to dance” to the list. I still believe I look like some big goof on the dance floor but once in a while I can get away with a slow dance.

The other thing that’s happened that happened to me is I’ll be featured as a character in a new book by Jess Lourey called “February Fever”. (Be sure to check the archived columns as I did a piece on that). That was a huge surprise! I have no idea what my part to the murder mystery is, but Jess told me I’m a” pretty interesting character”. It will be on store shelves in February.

I don’t have a full list yet, but I know I’ll be heading for Canada again sometime this summer and would also like to visit relatives in Georgia and Washington State. I’ve always been told a train ride to Washington, through the Rocky Mountains makes a beautiful vacation trip if you have the time.

I’ve never been to Mount Rushmore or the Crazy Horse Monument. There’s another one to add to my list.

Remember we’re not talking New Year’s resolutions here. It’s just a great idea to get off our fannies and do something in 2015. It’s not a “bucket list” because at the end of 2015, you’re going to make a new list for 2016. Put your thinking caps on kids, 2015 is just about here. LET’S DO THIS!

Come to think of it, maybe I’ll try to ride a camel too.
