MOORHEAD ISSUES CALL FOR ART

MOORHEAD – What do Chicago’s Millennium Park’s Bean (Cloud Gate), Denver’s Blue Bear and Bemidji’s Paul and Babe all have in common? They are all community destinations providing optimal opportunities for memorable photos! We want Moorhead’s next art exhibit to be just as memorable.

The City of Moorhead is envisioning a new permanent sculpture in Davy/Memorial Park, but this Call for Art will entertain other fantastic ideas that reflect or highlight our Moorhead pride.  Visit cityofmoorhead.com/art for details and access to an online proposal form.

Deadline to submit proposals is May 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm. Questions? Contact art@cityofmoorhead.com.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

MOORHEAD – Visit with Mayor Carlson and Ward 1 council members Shelly Dahlquist and Matt Gilbertson 6 – 7pm Thursday, May 13.

Come early to help plant the edible forest at MB Johnson Park.

CANCER BENEFIT SUPPORTING DESERAY SAX

MOORHEAD – Desi was diagnosed with large B cell lymphoma in January 2021. She and her husband Mike currently reside with their 3 children in south Moorhead.

It appears that Desi will not be able to return to her work as a CAN at Eventide until at least August. In the meantime, medical bills are mounting quickly. To raise funds to help pay those medical bills, a public benefit will be held at the American Legion, 303 – 30th St. No., Moorhead on May 16, from noon to 4pm.

The event will include food, bake sale, silent auction with a wide array of items ranging from gift cards to collectibles.

Donations can also be made to the Deseray Sax Benefit Fund at Bell Bank or through Lend A Hand Up website by clicking on the “GIVE” button and search for Deseray Sax. Contributions will be boosted by the Lend A Hand Up program.
