HOLISTIC COUNSELING CENTER TO EXPAND DOWNTOWN MOORHEAD

MOORHEAD – Mindful Healing & Consulting, PC expanded in location and staff to increase mental health offerings in downtown Moorhead and are eager to offer to the mental health community expanded support in the areas of depression, anxiety, maternal health and chronic pain. They offer tele-health and in person counseling sessions. Most insurance is accepted. 

Melissa Dahl, LPCC founder and clinic director puts forward her mission, ‘You can heal, we can help’. Katie Morris, LPCC offers tele-health and specialty in Catholic Counseling. Kyle Sundberg offers specialty in chronic pain. Each provider is trauma-informed and practice a variety of modalities to bring healing to you.

SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES AND LANDLINE LAUNCH NEW SERVICE CONNECTING FARGO-MOORHEAD TO MSP

MINNEAPOLIS – Sun Country Airlines (NASDAQ: SNCY) is now offering customers in the Fargo-Moorhead area more options to connect to their favorite destinations. Starting in March, the airline is expanding its partnership with Landline to launch motorcoach service five days per week between Hector International Airport in Fargo (FAR) and Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP), offering convenient connections to anywhere Sun Country flies.

Landline provides guests one-stop access to multiple Sun Country destinations via MSP. Landline motorcoach vehicles feature a premium interior with free wi-fi and entertainment, extra leg room, leather seats, in-seat power and an onboard lavatory. Customers connecting to Sun Country flights via Landline can enjoy a hassle-free experience that includes the ability to check bags in Fargo. 

Landline connections are available to customers just like any other connecting flight. Simply visit www.suncountry.com and a book a trip starting or ending at Fargo’s Hector International Airport (FAR). Service aboard Landline costs $15 for one way, or $30 round trip. Service from MSP-FAR begins March 1, 2023, while service from FAR-MSP begins March 2, 2023.

FREE TAX PREPARATION AT CONCORDIA

MOORHEAD – Free tax preparation is available on Concordia College’s campus with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6-Thursday, March 16, on Monday and Thursday evenings in the Grant Center room 118. The site will not be open Monday, March 6, or Thursday, March 9, when the campus is closed due to a break.

No appointment is needed and free parking is available.

VITA is a program supported by the IRS. IRS-certified student volunteers prepare basic tax returns. VITA offers a quick and convenient way to receive your tax refund through free e-filing. The mission of VITA is to provide free basic tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income (less than $60,000 a year) and elderly taxpayers. Things to bring: all W-2 forms, Photo ID, and Social Security CARD. Also, a blank check or bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of tax refunds. For married couples, BOTH spouses must be present.

Directions: The Grant Center is located on 8th Street and 12th Avenue South, Moorhead. Parking is available in the back of the building in ES or E. Room 118 is located on the main floor.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SEVERAL FELONY VIOLENT CRIMES

MOORHEAD – Kasondra Perez, age 25, with no permanent address, was arrested for several felony crimes on Friday, January 20.

Perez was taken into custody the evening of Friday, January 20, in Moorhead for crimes she committed during the early morning hours. Perez went to an acquaintance’s residence in Moorhead, where she assaulted the acquaintance with a knife and attempted to light two victims on fire after spraying the victim with lighter fluid. The suspect later transported another victim to another different address in Moorhead, where the suspect sexually assaulted the victim before the victim could escape out a window.

Members of the Moorhead Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the USMS High Plains Fugitive Task Force took the suspect into custody without incident.

Perez was transported to the Clay County Correctional Facility, and a long-form complaint was requested for the following charges: 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, 2nd Degree Assault, 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, Kidnapping, Felony Domestic Strangulation, 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery, Threats of Violence, and 4th Degree Criminal Damage to Property.

GUAN AND BACHMEIER EXHIBIT “CONVERGENCE/TRANSCENDENCE” OPENS JANUARY 27 AT ROURKE

MOORHEAD – The Rourke Art Gallery + Museum is pleased to present “Convergence/Transcendence: The Art of Zhimin Guan & Brad Bachmeier”, on view from 27 January through 19 March 2023. Guan and Bachmeier are both art professors at Minnesota State University (MSUM) and have both exhibited at The Rourke since the early 2000s in group and solo exhibitions. This is the second time they have presented a two-person exhibition, their first duo display titled “Confluence” was exhibited at The Rourke in 2013. 

“Convergence/Transcendence” features Guan’s oil paintings and watercolors and Bachmeier’s wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics. They have also made a selection of collaborative works for the exhibition. Visitors may enjoy Guan and Bachmeier’s art and all the exhibits on display during public viewing hours, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The exclusive Member Preview is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday 27 January 2023. The Public Opening is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday 29 January 2023, with the artists’ Gallery Talk at 2 p.m.
