Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch 2014:

Nelson’s Farm is not only the place to find all your fall produce & Halloween decorations, but also a great place to bring your entire family for a full day of fun! Take a hayride through the woods, walk through the Haunted Hollow Road, feed the goats and chickens, find your way out of the pre-school straw maze and if you are brave enough enter the Gruesome Granary Haunted House. They still have the two-acre corn maze, however if you are looking for more of a challenge this year they have a Ten Acre Spider Web Corn Maze! They also have games, shopping, concessions and much, much more!

The Pumpkin Patch:

Location: Dakota Carriage Co. at 7414 40th Ave. N in Fargo

Date: October 9 – 26

Time: Fridays 3:00 – 6:00pm, Saturdays 11:00 – 6:00pm, Sunday 1:00 – 6:00pm. Also open Thurs Oct 16 & Fri Oct 17 from 1:00 – 6:00pm.

Cost: $5 on Fridays, $6 on Saturdays and Sundays

Areas largest fall festival. One gate admission for over 20 attractions including horse wagon rides, 3 acre corn maze, 9 holes of mini golf, barrel train rides, old west town, and petting zoo. Come play for the day. Only five miles North of West Fargo.

Oktoberfest Pork Dinner:

Location: Shepherd of the Prairie Church at 6151 25th St. S. in Fargo

Cost: Adults $10; Children ages 4-12 $5; children under 3 eat for free.

It’s Pork Dinner Time! Come to SOTP for a delicious pork dinner–complete with mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, our special sweet and sour apple cabbage, and more!

Used Book Sale:

Location: Moorhead Public Library

Date: October 10 – 11

Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm both days

Cost: Free

Sponsored by Friends of the Moorhead Library. Materials half price from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday and then $5 per bag from 1:00 to 5:00pm.

Pasta Feed:

Location: St. Leo’s Church in Casselton

Date: October 10

Time: 4:30pm

Cost: Free will donation

Come out before the Shanley vs. Central Cass football game. All Free Will donations will go to help the Casselton Outback Dance Team meet their goals to attend the Outback Bowl and dance during the halftime show on New Year’s Day.

NDSU Homecoming Parade:

Location: Downtown Broadway in Fargo

Cost: Free

Celebrate NDSU Homecoming, sponsored by Campus Attractions. The NDSU Bookstore will be selling merchandise at 4 p.m. on the U.S. Bank Plaza. Area food vendors also will be located downtown beginning at 4 p.m.

Statehood Celebration and Mural Unveiling:

Location: Centennial Park in Grand Forks

Date: October 11

Time: 11:30am

Cost: Free

The City of Grand Forks, along with the Near Southside Neighborhood, will commemorate the 125th anniversary of North Dakota statehood with the unveiling of a mural. A celebration will start at Centennial Park in downtown Grand Forks. Located at the intersection of South 5th Street, Walnut Street, and Kittson Avenue, Centennial Park anchored by a clock tower — was developed 25 years ago to mark the State centennial. The event will then move across 5th Street to unveil a mural sponsored by the Near Southside Neighborhood. This event will also celebrate the life of local artist Joel Jonientz, creator of the mural, who passed away unexpectedly last year. Jonientz was an art professor at UND, and his UND colleagues helped complete the mural in his honor. The event will wrap up at the 2nd floor of Rhombus Guys. All are invited to attend this community event.

Pancake Breakfast:

Location: Masonic Family Center at 1815 11th St. N. in Moorhead

Buttermilk or Swedish pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Proceeds benefit Masonic community events and projects.

Walk to Stop Diabetes – Step Out:

The ADA’s signature fundraising walk, the event has been taking place for more than 20 years, music, food, kids’ activities, local entertainment, and most importantly, the company of hundreds of people who truly understand the impact of diabetes; for more information or to register, visitwww.stepout.diabetes.org.

“Big Wheels Keep on Turning” at the 2014 UND Homecoming Parade! The parade will begin at the Gorecki Alumni Center, travel down University Avenue and end at North 25th Street, just before University Park.

All 4 Fun Dog Festival:

Location: Circle of Friends Humane Society in Grand Forks

Cost: Free

Activities for families and their furry friends, including a pet alumni reunion; canine demonstrations by area agencies; contests judged by local celebrities including best trick, cutest, most disobedient, best tail wagger and sing-off; and fun games including musical sit/stay, doggy dash, obedience baseball and muffin tin search. Lunch will be provided by the Manvel Fire Department. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend.

Ryan Jacobson Author Talk:

National Fossil Day Celebration – The Mesozoic Marine Revolution:

Shell crushing and boring organisms changed the future of marine life during the Mesozoic Era. Celebrate National Fossil Day at the Main Library when NDSU Geologist Dr. Lydia Tackett shares the story of the Mesozoic Marine Revolution and the rise of the shell crushers! All ages are invited to this special presentation. Kids will also dig for a fossil to take home! This event is held in partnership with the ND Association for Women Geoscientists. No registration is required.
