Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch 2014:

Nelson’s Farm is not only the place to find all your fall produce & Halloween decorations, but also a great place to bring your entire family for a full day of fun! Take a hayride through the woods, walk through the Haunted Hollow Road, feed the goats and chickens, find your way out of the pre-school straw maze and if you are brave enough enter the Gruesome Granary Haunted House. They still have the two-acre corn maze, however if you are looking for more of a challenge this year they have a Ten Acre Spider Web Corn Maze! They also have games, shopping, concessions and much, much more!

Autumn Trees of Itasca, Walk:

As the autumn arrives, learn more about the fall color change as we identify some of the common trees of Itasca.

Artstravaganza:

Location: First Ave Promo at 1408 1stAve. N. in Moorhead

Family-friendly free event that aims to bring the love of art to Fargo-Moorhead through hands on creation and fun, there will be chalk drawing, food, collaborative art displays, live artists and music, screen-printing demos, Junkyard Brewing Co. and other food vendors open for drinks and food (must be 21 or older).

Author and Artist Presentation:

Location: Renaissance Hall at NDSU in Fargo

Author Debra Chwast and her son, Seth Chwast, who is an artist, will give a presentation that is open to the public.

2014 Annual AAUW Used Book Sale:

Location: Grand Cities Mall in Grand Forks

Date: September 26 – 27

Time: Friday 10:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) in partnership with Ferguson Books & More, will be hosting the 2014 annual used book sale at the Grand Cities Mall. All proceeds will fund scholarships.

Swedish Meatball Dinner:

Location: Masonic Family Center at 1815 11thSt. N. in Moorhead

Date: September 26

Time: 4:30 – 7:00pm

Cost: $9 adults, $4 children 10 and younger, free for preschoolers

Swedish meatball dinner in addition to salad, mashed potatoes, vegetable, dessert and beverage, dine in our take out.

Home Builders Association of FM Fall Home Show:

Location: Scheels Arena in Fargo

Date: September 26 – 27

Time: Friday 12:00 – 8:00pm, Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm

Cost: $3.00 Admission. 2-for-1 Admission Friday 2 – 5 p.m.

In its 25th year, the Fall Home Show displays a wide array of exhibits under one roof: contractors, flooring, siding, spas, windows, water purification, decks, heating/air conditioning, interior decorating and design, kitchen and bath design, cabinetry, garages and more.



Pancake Breakfast:

Buttermilk or Swedish pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Proceeds benefit Masonic community events and projects.

Family Day at the Museum:

Location: North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks

Cost: Free

Family Day is a day where children of all ages and adults come together to work on projects that help us understand the Museum exhibit or learn about techniques and materials. It takes place on the last Saturday of the month during the school year, from 10 am to noon, unless otherwise noted. Drop in or stay the entire time. There is no admission, although donations to cover materials are always welcome. Free parking is available, compliments of the Museum.

Sheyenne Valley Arts and Crafts Festival:

Location: Fort Ransom

Cost: $2 adults, $1 children 6 – 14, free for preschoolers

Come out and enjoy the fall foliage as you browse the area’s finest locally-made arts and crafts. No pets please.

Discovering Your African Roots – A New American Festival:

Location: Oak Grove Park in Fargo

Date: September 27

Time: 10:00am – 8:30pm

Cost: Free will donation

Goat meat, music, and dancing to benefit Patrick and Martha Smith Welfare Center in Libera for orphans. Public invited, freewill donations accepted.

7th Annual Autumn Harvest Festival: Lantern Lit Night Hike and Activities:

Location: Itasca State Park

Date: September 27

Time; 6:00pm

Cost: Free

Meet at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. A journey down the mighty Mississippi River is the theme of this year’s lantern lit hike. Guides with lanterns will lead you down the kerosene lantern-lit trail to meet characters that will share stories about the Mississippi River during this family-friendly evening hike. Group hikes will last about 30 minutes, departing every ten minutes from the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. Registration for hikes begins at 6 p.m. The first hike leaves at 6:30 p.m. and the last hike will begin at 8:10 p.m. Suitable for all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Other activities, including music and a variety of children’s activities, will be ongoing.

Judy Kvaale and Linda Francis, retired West Fargo teachers, will read from their new bookMiki, the Mized-up,a delightful story of a mischievous cousin of the famous Gingerbread Man! Meet the authors and hear the story at 2:00 and 3:00pm. All ages welcome. No registration required.

5k Run/ Walk in Memory of Sonia Balliet-Heidenreich:

Location: Brunsdale Park at 1702 27thAve. S. in Fargo

Cost: $15 – $20

We’re returning to our “roots” and bringing the race back to Brunsdale Park for a fun, family friendly atmosphere! We hope to see you there! Funds raised at this event are used to help individuals and families living with Cystic Fibrosis in North Dakota pay for life-saving medications, funds support groups and offers college scholarships to youth with CF. All participants will receive a T shirt and a $3 Happy Joe’s buffet after the race.

German Culture Day:

Location: Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead

Celebrate German cultural heritage of past immigrants and of contemporary Germany with a combination of traditional music and dance, children’s activities, and folk traditional crafts. Featuring author Mary-Ann Kirby, an award-winning journalist and bestselling author who will give a presentation of her memoir,I am Hutterite,which chronicles her story growing up in a Hutterite colony in western Canada and the challenging decision her parents made when they left the colony. Other entertainment includes performances by The Flemming Fold, Dale Dahmen and the Beats and the El Zagal Shrine German Band, folk art demonstrators and German food, wine and beer.

Fun fall activities include: Purchase a pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch (over 1,000 pumpkins to choose from), Arts & Crafts in the Peter Peter Pumpkin Factory, Face Painting, Clay County 4-H animals, Strolling Clown with Balloon Animals, Carnival Games, Decorate a Pumpkin Cookie, Concessions, Straw Bale Maze. Games & Rides: Individual tickets can be purchased or have all the fun with the purchase of a $5.50 wristband.
