Reflecting on 2014

New construction valuations for the year 2014 are in. Combined residential and commercial construction values broke $100 million for the first time in a decade. The total value for both commercial and residential in 2014 was: $104,258,333. Commercial remodels and new projects totaled $40,199,292.80.

Moorhead continues to see private investment and reinvestment into both residential and commercial activities. These valuations for construction projects in 2014 clearly reinforce the message of growth and economic progress for our community.

As we move full speed into 2015, a few priorities are on my plate in the economic development office. Many of you recall the study conducted on our MCCARA Industrial Park released in October, 2014. Phase three and the final phase of the study is a marketing approach that will apply findings from phases one and two into a targeted strategy. I will be working closely with our consultant for several months in early 2015 to establish the goals and objectives to market the industrial park to external and internal prospects. Anticipated completion date for the final phase of the study is March 15th, 2015. Stay tuned for the final results.

I wish all of our local businesses a strong kick-off to 2015.

See you around town!
