Studio Crawl

I was amused with one of my favorite artists, Trygve Olson, as he drew me in artist garb holding a paint pallet as part of a Forum story by John Lamb that considered “what if” the movie/TV series, Fargo, featuring local people. One of the first times I met Chris Berg, of KVLY’s Point of View, he was sure I was an artist of some sort. I told Chris to think “accountant” and that I was pretty much everything that implies. BUT I admit I never had ‘mayor’ on my bucket list so I will never say never.

I do, however, love our local artists. We enjoy a tremendous amount of talent in our community, and that’s why the FM Visual Artist’s Studio Crawl is a spectacular event to attend. The Studio Crawl involves a map of 41 artist studios that are opening their studios for you to see. Many of the artists will demonstrate how they work their magic. My spouse, Ron Williams, is #22 on the list. Ron is a pretty eclectic guy… he is a civil engineer, professor and a woodturner. Ron has enjoyed making things in wood as long as I’ve known him, but he fell in love with woodturning when he became his friend, Phil Holtan’s first student. This is the Studio Crawl’s 11th year in our community. This is Ron’s 3rd time. Prior to that, we enjoyed checking out artists on the list. I hope you will take the opportunity to check out some of our community’s amazing art talent. The Studio Crawl is this weekend, October 4 and 5 from noon to 6PM each day.
