Surviving IT

What is IT? Well, I guess it could be the environmental disaster, financial collapse, power grid failure or war… most people will NOT survive very long at all. I touched on this subject in one of my past articles, but I didn’t give it a lot of thought and the time is getting closer. You don’t have to be a “Doomsday Prepper” to prepare for a national emergency; it just might save you and your family a lot of misery, so let’s look at few simple things.

Here’s a few things to ponder…How long could you go without water if there was suddenly nothing coming from the water tap and the grocery store was out of bottled water? Do ya have enough necessary medication to last you for a while?

If you have to leave your home… do you have a tent, sleeping bags, food supply, tools, first-aid kit, sanitary supplies, tools, clothing and water supply? Firearms and ammunition are certainly a necessity in a holocaust situation. How much gas do you have and how far and where are you going to go?

It’s smart thinking to always have what’s called a “Bug out bag “containing enough survival supplies to last 72 hours. (If that’s all the longer you intend to survive). But if you are figuring to make it living in the woods or out in mother nature’s world… you’re gonna need a lot of things, like a chain saw, fishing equipment, tools, clothing for cold, lanterns, water supply or filtration device, a lot of food, (dried or canned), toilet paper, medicines, raincoats and a ton of camping gear, including fire starting devices, ropes, lights, blankets, knives and utensils and maybe some bartering goods, such as ammo, gold, silver or trading food.

You might think this is foolish thought, but we are talking about you and your family living or dying. And you might want to think about learning some doctoring skills and a little knowledge of drugs and medicine you should have wound in a survival situation.

I know this sounds overwhelming, but you could at least start with a few of the most important things like food and water, some extra clothing and a gun and some ammo. Once you have that little “Bug out” bag ready to go in your garage or closet… then add to it from time to time. By the way, there are several ways to collect and sanitize water and keep food, you just need to get a good survival book or go on the internet and start doing a little learning about this… it just might save you and your family’s life.
